Most Memorable Softball Experience: Receiving an award on the same day as one of my young athletes who was receiving one for pitching as well. I didn't know she was there nor did I know she was receiving an award that day until she was called to the podium. I was so proud that it brought tears to my eyes and any award after that paled in comparison to that feeling I felt that day.
Most Memorable Canada Cup experience: 2005 Pitching against Japan, throwing one of the best games of my life and receiving a standing ovation from the crowd...breath taking experience!
What in your opinion make a team a “Champions”?: Knowing what it means to be a team and playing like one! One of the greatest gifts my family and teammates ever gave to me, was simply that they believed in me. Thats what makes Champions!

FAITS SAILLANTS
Lanz was a member of Softball Canada’s Elite Team, competing at the Canada Cup in 2005 and 2006, and also played in the 2005 Pan American Qualifier. She won the 2005 Western Canadian Championships with the Smitty’s Terminators, placing second the year before at the Canadian Championships with the Winnipeg Lightning. She has been honoured as an NAIA All American, MVP pitcher, and pitcher of the year. In 2008, she was Top Pitcher at the Canadian Senior Women’s Championship where her team won the Gold medal. At the same tournament in 2009, she was named Top Player of the Championship Round, taking home a Silver medal.

PERSONAL
Lanz studied Communication Disorders at Minot State University, graduating in 2008. She would like to work privately as a speech pathologist. Her most memorable experience at the Canada Cup was: “pitching against Japan and throwing one of the best games of my life.”

Lanz’ favorite movie is the Sandlot, and her hobbies include playing volleyball and painting. Her favourite quote is: “It’s not a matter of how far you’ve come it’s how far you’re going.”
