Level 4 Clinic Development Committee

Chairperson:
Brian Van Os
Email: bvanos@shaw.ca
Description: Brian Van Os has been tasked with the restructuring of the Level 4 Clinic materials. It is proposed that the Level 4 Clinic take on a completely new look. It will be a highly practical clinic with a lot of gym/field work on plate and base mechanics.

While this committee has not formally started to rework the clinic format and topics yet, I am sure that Brian would appreciate any suggestions from the working umpires in the country.

Clinic Manuals Rewrite Project - 2011 Reminder

Chairperson: Doug Cundall
Email: doug.cundall@sympatico.ca
Description: In 2005 a decision to restructure the Softball Canada Clinic materials was proposed and accepted by the Softball Canada executive.
Thanks goes out to the individuals who have actively served on the rewrite committee as well as individuals who have contributed materials to the new manuals

The restructuring and writing has been completed.
The new Level 1, Level 2 FP and Level 2 SP, Level 3 FP and Level 3 SP clinic manuals and restructured clinics are all available.

Support material presently consists of new overhead projection pages, powerpoint units, points of emphasis sheets and the new manuals.

Provinces and territories have all of the new material.

The new manuals are very different from the old manuals and are not an updated version of the past manuals. All old manuals and support materials need to be destroyed and only new materials should be used when presenting any of the clinics.

There is a heavy emphasis on drills involving plate and base mechanics, diamond positioning and signals. New sections have been added and include a L1 section on "Handling Confrontations" and a "blank" section for instructors to insert any new mechanics or rules for the current season.

Topics from the old L3 and L4 manuals have been "backed up" into the L2 and L3 clinics. In both the new L2 and L3 clinics there is a heavy emphasis on drilling new skills.
