2013 Blue Convention

The Blue Convention is a major event for officials organized by Softball Canada every three years. Officials from across the country (and internationally) meet to discuss a variety of topics and participate in a series of workshops to learn and improve their umpiring skills.

It is taking place in Ontario on Easter Weekend, 2013. Presenters include Bob Henning, Serge Laflamme, Gen Gaudreau and Joyce Bellini, Jeff Whipple, John Ariss, Lou Davis, an ASA presentation by either Craig Cress or Kevin Ryan, Softball Canada`s Women in Umpiring Committee, Brent Chadwick and Aaron Poulin to name a few.

Topics are designed to attract officials in both Slo-Pitch and Fast Pitch. The topics include such varied subjects as "Working the Plate, "Umpire Coach Relationships", "Casebook Chaos", "Why Would You take That Crap", a "Junior Umpire program", and "Umpiring with the Stars". These are some of the offerings at this upcoming Blue.

Start planning now to attend!  Hook up with a buddy and share accommodations!  Bring a fellow official along!  Invite an umpire from the USA or some other country!  Workshops are geared to be useful for the rookie umpire right through to the elite umpire.  Guest speakers are always entertaining and informative.
