Softball Canada is extremely pleased to announce the release of its new Public Service Announcement (PSA)! Following up on the success of our previous PSA that ran from 2008 to 2013, we contracted MediaPlus Advertising in Ottawa, ON to develop a new PSA that features people of all ages and skill levels that will be adapted in various languages.

Softball Canada is pleased to announce that a Male Fastpitch Review Committee has been established to review all aspects of the male game in Canada. A workshop was held at the Softball Canada Annual General Meeting in November to gather feedback from the membership based on their provincial play. The primary goals of the committee are to determine the long term desired state of Male Fastpitch and create a long term direction and plan to achieve that state.

Mark Smith represented Canada internationally as a member of Softball Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team from 1979 to 1994 and was inducted to Softball Canada’s Hall of Fame as a member of the 1983 Pan American Gold Medal team in 1997 and later as an Athlete in 1999. He coached within the Men’s National Team program from 1996-2009, and has been the Head Coach of the Women’s National Team program since 2009.

Softball Canada is pleased to announce a series of Regional Identification Camps for the Junior and Senior Women's National Team programs in 2014 in preparation for the 2014 ISF Senior Women’s World Championship and the 2015 ISF Junior Women’s World Championship. The camps will take place in Brampton, ON, Cloverdale, BC and Saskatoon, SK.

Softball Canada's National Teams will be competing in various events in 2014, including the 2014 ISF Junior Men's World Championship in Whitehorse, YT, the 2014 ISF Women's World Championship in Haarlem, Netherlands and the 2014 Men's Pan American Championship in Parana, Argentina. The British Columbia Softball association and their umpires were the host for the Instructor/Evaluator Clinic in Richmond. From all accounts the sessions were well received and several new instructors and Evaluators will be putting their skills to the test. For the first time existing I/E Umpires were allowed to take the course for a refresher. Thank you to Brent Chadwick and Frankie Billingsley, the Instructors for the Clinic.

Softball Canada is planning on adding a special Masters Division to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Senior Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship from August 28-31, 2014 in Charlottetown, PEI.
