(Surrey, BC) Team Canada kept rolling on home soil by defeating the Washington Absolute Blast for a third consecutive night by a score of 7-0 on Wednesday. It was the last meeting between the two teams, as Canada will take on the United States from Thursday to Sunday.

Canada struck first in the bottom half of the first, when Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, California) singled, advanced to second on a groundout, and scored on a single by Sheena Lawrick (Calgary, AB).

In the third, Caitlin Lever (Buffalo, New York) led off with a single, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on a single by Jenn Yee (North Delta, BC), who moved up to second on the throw to the plate. Sheena Lawrick then cracked another RBI single to bring in Yee, and scored on a double by Kaleigh Rafter (Guelph, ON) to give Canada a 4-0 lead.

The red and white completed the scoring in the following inning, as Lever got things started again by hitting a two-out single. Victoria Hayward followed that with a triple to score Lever, and Jenn Yee Walked to put runners on first and third. Sheena Lawrick then came up and promptly hit a two-run double, leading Canada to the win with four runs batted in on the night.

Pitching duties were shared by Canadian starting pitcher Ashley Lanz (Winnipeg, MB), who held the Washington Absolute Blast to one hit over two innings with two strikeouts; and sixteen year old Junior team call-up Jocelyn Cater (Maple Ridge, BC) who was just as strong, also allowing a hit and striking out two in three innings of relief.
