Senior Women prepare for 15th annual Canada Cup
(Surrey, BC) - With only one month left before Team Canada is set to compete at the Olympic Summer Games in Beijing, the squad looks to strengthen its reputation at the Canada Cup, extending from July 12th-20th in Surrey, BC.

Following a disappointing 5-1 semi-final loss to Australia (ranked third in the world) at the Tri Nations Cup in Kitchener, ON, the upcoming Canada Cup will allow the Senior Women to gain valuable experience against their Olympic opponents.  Olympic teams competing include Japan (second), Australia (third), China (fourth), Venezuela and Chinese Taipei.

Canada will play its first game of the tournament on July 12th (6:30 p.m. PDT) against Czech Republic and will face rival, Australia in round-robin play on July 17th (6:30 p.m. PDT).  The championship will be decided on July 20th with the semi-final at 1:30p.m. CDT and the final at 6:30p.m. CDT.

All Canada Cup games will be played at Softball City, a premier sports and entertainment complex consisting of four diamonds. Events, such as a Parmalat Learn to Play Clinic (July 11th) and Special Olympics Day (July 16th) will take place throughout the tournament and will add to the overall excitement.
