How do we encourage female officials to apply to and prepare for provincial and Canadian championships. There are only two women at the Junior Women's CC's, that number is low. How do we get the % of participation up for these championships?

We need to go back to basics...and get rid of that feeling of the old boys club that appears to be creeping back again. We need to design a new respect my game program where there are definite consequences for actions taken by teams, parents, and coaches.

Well there seems to be an issue in Ontario with getting female umpires to Canadian Championships. While the men have a waiting period of one year to go back to a CC, the women have a two year wait. That is ridiculous since we obviously have very few females even eligible to apply. This is discouraging for all female umpires and causes some just to give up. The other problem is then we do not always send our best! After supervising a few CC's, I am finding more often that umpires are chosen not because they are the best but because it is his/her turn. How do we get to the provinces to encourage female participation.
